Mana is the existence of and the very aura of power. It is the inherent authority apportioned by the Gods from the creation as we know called the Kumulipo. Therefore mana in humans or objects is derived from the Gods. Being embodiments of the Gods themselves, the ruling alii were imbued with the greatest amount of mana. Mana then trickled down the line to the classes of chiefs, man and woman, the elements, the animals, the plants and objects of nature with each having a proper apportionment as directed by the Gods. Stones have mana. Kü and Hina stones were set up in shrines throughout the land in ancient times and prayed to for abundance in fishing as well as farming. Stone idols carved in the image of Gods and Goddesses were worshipped these also included idols of family aumakua. Through the tradition of hoomanamana, one can impart mana through prayer into objects such as stone. Healing mana is imparted into the stones of the necklaces created by Kawaikapuokalani K. Hewett Each stone is chosen carefully by Kawaikapuokalani and each necklace is created through his insight. Throughout the process he imparts healing energy into each necklace through the prayers taught to him by his teachers. |
