String Figure, Piko o Kahoali'i (navel of Kahoali'i) or Ka Punawai o Ka Lani (spring of the high chief), Made on all Hawaiian Islands
This figure was also called Wahine (woman) by a Maori woman in San Francisco at the Pan-Pacific Exposition in 1915. A story states that a man who represented the god Kahoali'i, walked naked ahead of the feather work idols in the line of the gods.
I find this string figure a wonderful portal when meditating upon the curves and crossing this figure presents. The energy the figure gives forth along the lines of the string is strong and encouraging.
